Ruby Jackson

Described as “the little black dress in your wardrobe — an instant classic,” Sydney-based songwriter, producer, and performer Ruby Jackson has positioned herself at the heart of the Australian R&B and jazz scene. During her high school years, Ruby fell in love with jazz after discovering the magic of Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, and Julie London — a passion that inspired her to study composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she refined her writing craft. Since completing her studies, Ruby has quickly flourished into one of Sydney’s most authentic, world-class creators, delivering music that consistently resonates with audiences.

This rise can be traced back to November 2022 when Ruby was selected as FBi Radio’s Independent Artist of the Week for her release “Get Around To It,” a crowd favourite celebrated for its smooth, classy alternative R&B touch. In 2023, her singles “Out Of Fashion,” “Guilty Pleasure,” and “You’ve Changed” dominated the airwaves, earning Double J rotation, triple j Unearthed rotation, and support from triple j, iHeartRadio, and community radio nationwide. Following impressive performances at BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney in September 2023, Ruby released her much-anticipated debut EP Sweeter For Me that November, co-produced with acclaimed Sydney creator Finbar Stuart. Fuelled by 2000s R&B-pop nostalgia, the timeless five-track record delivers sincere storytelling with a beautiful and honest touch — everything a debut EP should be.

Ruby kicked off 2024 with a sold-out performance at Cockatoo Island’s Sunset Sessions and Hot Jazz Picnic, followed by selling out the Lansdowne with a headline show. February saw her open for Ball Park Music as part of Sydney’s Twilight at Taronga, before heading to Brisbane to warm the stage for international sensation Morcheeba (UK) at The Tivoli. Showing no signs of slowing down, Ruby performed at Blues on Broadbeach, embarked on a co-headline east-coast tour with Emma Volard, and took the stage at Manly Jazz Festival, SXSW Sydney, and Homegrown Concerts at The Rocks. Then in 2025, Ruby Jackson is performed at Sydney Festival in January and Get Together Festival in March which is a testament to her unstoppable momentum.

And with all this behind her, Ruby is now preparing to release new music next year. Don’t miss the chance to experience this soulful sophistication!
